Reclaimed Oak writing desk

I created this piece of bespoke furniture for the home of a client who I'd previously made an entire bakery shop for!

I acquired the Oak as offcuts from the making of large green-Oak roof trusses.

There was just enough Oak to make the desk top but only if the pieces were arranged diagonally, as they were too short to go lengthwise and too much was wasted if they were arranged laterally.

I made the skirt and drawer front using Valchromat left over from the bakery shop build. I added the butchers-block style groove around the edge as a visual framing for the off-kilter wood grain and to catch rolling pencils.
